Betteke de Gaay Fortman
Karuna Foundation
Since its inception in 2007, Betteke de Gaay Fortman is the director of Karuna Foundation and one of the key-persons in building a new organisation, and developing the vision and model. She has successfully led the process from pilot to an evidence-based model which is now in full scaling-up phase. Under her leadership the organisation in Nepal has grown into a strong local entrepreneurial organisation with sustainability and exit, self-reliance and empowerment of the poorest of the poor as core values.
She has been working in International Development the last 18 years.
She is a board member of the Plastic Soup Foundation and the Dutch Coalition for Disability and Development.
