IPAS

Ipas believes in a world where all people have the right and ability to determine their own sexuality and reproductive health. We build resilient abortion and contraceptive ecosystems using a comprehensive approach across sectors, institutions, and communities. Ipas recognizes that multiple factors influence an individual’s ability to access abortion. In a sustainable abortion ecosystem, resilient local stakeholders and systems are actively accountable and committed to abortion rights and responsive to everyone’s abortion needs. Ipas has worked for 50 years to ensure people have access to comprehensive reproductive health services. We train providers and work with health systems to ensure accessible, high-quality care. We conduct advocacy to improve policies and turn policy into practice. We partner with local organizations and SRHR champions to educate communities on reproductive health and rights and advocate for reproductive justice. We have expertise working on abortion in the most restrictive settings, including humanitarian areas. Ipas’s local leadership and global expertise allow us to convene stakeholders ranging from grassroots activists to health providers to government officials, to build stronger movements for reproductive justice. Because we are not a direct service provider or social marketing organization, we can identify and support local partners minimizing duplication of effort, and work in collaboration to address gaps in the ecosystem. This framework allows us to focus resources where we can make a difference and amplify the impact of other partners/actors in the system.
