Predicting What Matters

January has the peculiar quality of making us pause at what is coming next. Whether you commit to new year resolutions or not, it is still very natural to express your hopes and to scribble down some predictions for 2025. Pioneers Post asked some familiar faces from the impact space to do exactly that, and we are happy to share their insights.

In their article, Pioneers Post asked  impact organisations around the world about what’s likely to be the main focus when it comes to the world of business and finance for good. While it is difficult to summarize all their diverse answers, there are two elements that return in all of them: hope and action.

To put it in the words of Naina Subberwal Batra of our sister organisation AVPN: "The urgency to act decisively and meaningfully has never been clearer". This urgency is also emphasized by Philippe Zaouati of global asset management company and member organisation Mirova, who describes it as the "Coca-Cola risk".

Hope and action go hand in hand, especially in regions that deal with geopolitical instabilities. Safia Tmiri of Alfanar mentions the resilience of social entrepreneurs in the MENA-region as a prime example of the way forward. 2025 might be the year where impact investing starts looking South. In the words of Impact Europe's Ewa Konczal: "We should “walk the talk” and diversify our investment approach".
